Our OPTIMIZER'S Base Ingredient: HOCl
Hypochlorous acid (HOCl) was discovered in 1834, by the French chemist Antoine Jérôme Balard, by adding a dilute suspension of mercury oxide (in water) to a flask of chlorine gas. During World War I, present day antibiotics were not widely available. Due to the gentle and effective properties of HOCl, it was used as the primary tool to clean, disinfect, and heal wounds obtained during battle. Combined with its non-toxicity characteristics, it has been identified as an ideal environmental cleaning agent and sanitizer. There has been extensive research on the efficacy of HOCl when it comes to killing mold, bacteria, viruses, invasive fungi and other dangerous pathogens. It is so trusted and effective, that modern day hospitals around the World incorporate it daily into their standard operating procedures (SOP).
The use of HOCl in the industrial arena has grown exponentially within the last several years, particularly in the Oil and Gas, Shipping, Water/Wastewater Treatment, Healthcare, Agriculture and Food Service sectors. It has been classified by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as effective against Covid-19 (backed by clinical studies) and approved for use as a disinfectant. The FDA has approved its use in wound care treatment, as well as eye care products. Additionally, HOCl is USDA, USDA Organic and OMRI approved for use on plants.
